The fun navigation competition is set up by placing buoys in the water creating a course of gates and turns. All the ships that participate have to perform the exact same course. They all have to perform the same maneuvers. The total amount of actual commands, left-right rudder, rudder amidships, speed adjustments, all stop commands, should be the same and are counted. The ending point is a small floating wooden dock with a empty shell casing standing on it’s end. The pilot must dock, as the last maneuver without knocking over the shell.
A special thanks to Dr. McKinney and Aimee Eng for producing the Nav Course event!

PMPBA member Bob McClabe, shows off his Computer controlled Battleship. This baby isn’t run from a joystick, but a laptop. Bob wrote the software, designed the ship, which will repeat any course that is laid in, track a target and plays many sound effects. Well done Bob!
Friend of PMPBA, Jerry Pierce runs his Cardboard PT 659. Yes, Cardboard, epoxy and paint, Jerry uses what he has around the house. The inventor’s, inventor!
San Francisco Model Yacht Club’s Ken Valk displays his fantastic, detailed 30’s Bay fishing boat. With an animated engine, sounds and lights, she is a real crowd pleaser!
Thank you to Ken for trusting your Web Master to pilot her. What a thrill!
Be sure to see Ken's Add on the " Links" page "WetGoose Marine" for brass fittings
Sometimes you just have to dive into a project!
Club member Greg Moore displays his collection of vintage steam toy boats and answers questions from the crowd. Greg then fueled up the “Snipe” and was to sail her across the pond,,,,,but! As the Snipe got 35 ft off shore she capsized and sank. The Springer tug, Crowley” keeps the spot were the Snipe went down. Then Greg, takes a big breath and finds her in 6 ½ ft of water. Recovered, the Snipe will dry out and feel the pressure (in her boiler) another day.
If you knock over the shell, add,10 pts!
Your Web Master and Photog, apologizes, that I could not gather info and take pictures of all and everything on this great day! Ever model there is a fantastic piece of art, taking the time, budget and inventiveness of her creator. I wish I could do justice to each. Thank you for coming and displaying your wonderful work. Next year I will do better. Neal
